Onze dames van het WBNT zijn ondertussen terug van Kazan maar gaan gewoon door met hun voorbereiding op het EK te Rome deze maand. Charlotte De Vos, de aanvalster die in de Nederlandse hoofdklasse uitkomt voor Laren, sprak er over met hockeybelgium.be :

Il y a encore beaucoup de choses à améliorer avant Rome. C est un groupe très talentueux et je crois qu'au niveau individuel tout le monde peu encore progresser. A Kazan, nous avons évolué avec une tactique de base relativement simple qui commence à bien fonctionner. Mais ce n'est pas tout puisque je pense que nous sommes prêtes pour encore rajouter de nouveaux aspects au système.(...)Nous avons réussi un bon résultat à Kazan et pourtant tout le groupe était particulièrement déçu après la finale. Les Indiennes étaient fortes mais nous n'avons pas joué un bon match. C'est la preuve que nous avons de réelles ambitions avec ce noyau. L'équipe nationale Dames ne se satisfait plus avec une deuxième place !

Hun coach, Australiër Murray Richards, was ook kritisch ondanks de behaalde finale met het oog op het EK in Rome :

We have a group which is talented enough to reach the A division of Europe - but they are not yet mature. Too often during the tournament, and even during matches, we have large fluctuations in the quality of play - and in order to reach (and maintain) our place in the A division we need to perform with more consistency. I feel that our handling of the stress in the final was our weakest point. We will be faced with the same situation in Rome - and the performance of the girls in the final was that of a team unconvinced that they would win. That is something that the men's victory in Manchester changed within that group - and something we will work hard on now in the coming 5 matches (2 x u21 NED, 3 x SCO) we have before Rome.
